Police has just issued a warning to youth allied to Amama Mbabazi accusing them of plotting protests across the country.
Fred Enanga, police spokesperson, said they are aware that Pro-Mbabazi youth are planning demonstrations in major towns today, Monday.
He said police was not notified on the matter and would take the required action.
The report comes at a time rumour is making rounds that Mbabazi will announce his presidential bid tomorrow at Nyonyi gardens in Kololo (others say Serena hotel in Kampala).
Amama was fired from the positions of NRM Secretary General and Prime Minister for allegedly harbouring presidential ambitions.
His wife, Jacqueline Mbabazi, also the NRM Women League Chairperson, was bugged by police and spied on in the infamous Kale Kayihura spy tapes.
Mbabazi has been promising to announce his presidential bid time and again.
We cannot independently confirm whether today’s announcement is genuine as sources tell us.
However, we have seen pictures of claiming part of Mbabazi manifesto.
It seems Amama is bent on revamping the education sector which, according to the pictures, “is very important.
Exercise books have already been made with the picture of Mbabazi and the words: “The future of Uganda lies in the development of our education system” written on them.
There are also mathematical sets called “Academic Giant” with the words: “all the fruits of tomorrow are in the seeds of today” and emphasizing that education is the key.
We have also learnt that Mbabazi’s team approached NTV to live stream the event.
We will update you on the developments as they unfold.
