Education Minister Jessica Alupo has warned that some candidates’ Uganda Certificate of Education scheduled to be released later today, will be withheld.
“I don’t mean to alarm any students but yes, some UCE 2015 results are going to be withheld,” the minister told NBS TV Friday morning.
Usually, the results are held on account of exam malpractices.
The Uganda National Examinations Board is set to release the UCE 2015 results three weeks ahead of the normal release date.
According to Alupo, 310, 530 candidates registered for the 2015 examinations.
The number of students who sat for UCE 2015 was slightly over 300,000 with a slight increase in % compared to a year earlier.
“It’s an achievement that the UCE 2015 results are being released early. We expect an improvement in performance,” she said.
“UCE 2015 results are coming out three weeks early meaning that government was better prepared and funded the process.”
She said the education calendar was on track.
Students report back for Term 1 on February 22 and Senior Five students will report a week later.
The results will be released at Twed Towers in Kampala this afternoon.
