Parliament has tasked government to thoroughly investigate reports of death threats to Moses Ndiema Kipsiro, the two time 10,000m Commonwealth games gold medalist.
The matter was raised on the floor of parliament by Serere Woman MP, Alice Alaso.
She said it is unacceptable that a significant person like Kipsiro receives death threats and government does not intervene to protect his life.
Kipsiro pulled out of the 2015 World Cross Country Championship in China in March after he allegedly received a death threat text on his mobile phone.
He accused Police coach Peter Wemali of threatening his life.
The standoff between the two started last year when Kipsiro accused Wemali of sexually harassing females athletes while in a camp in Kapchorwa.
Wemali was later suspended by the athletics body but was later cleared by an independent investigation sanctioned by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Alaso demanded for an investigation into the threats and the alleged sexual harassment of female athletes.
She said the outcome of the process should be tabled before Parliament for further action.
Bukwo Woman MP Chelangat Tete Everline described the developments as unfortunate.
Chelangat appealed for immediate government action saying that the matter portrays Uganda in bad light.
State Minister for Internal Affairs, James Baba, told Parliament the Police was investigating the matter.
