The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura has in a new reshuffle appointed AIGP Asuman Mugenyi the new director of operations.
The information is contained in a directive to all units on the subject of new appointments and transfers.
Mugyenyi who has been serving as the Chief Political Commissar is appointed the director operations to specifically restructure community policing.
“He must without delay transform the current traditional policing structure/ infrastructure into our community policing model,” Kayihura directed.
He said Mugyenyi will also be screening the force to retain deployable personnel.
In the document which Insider obtained, Kayihura also designated the centre of training of community policing Kabalye as a temporary reorganisation centre under the Chief Political Commissar.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
He is expected to present 2016/17 work plans to the IGP without delay within two weeks from the date of the message.
“[If he] does not do so will have to show cause which disciplinary action should not been taken against him.”
The deputy IGP will preside over the handover and takeover.
