Police has arrested eight members of Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] youth group dubbed “Red Top Brigade”.
FDC party unleashed the group last month to protect its members especially in Kampala after a group of hooded black mask goons beat up Kizza Besigye’s supporters recently only to disappear without a trace.
The group would tail and protect top party leaders and supporters in Kampala against those who would seek to harm them.
Aaron Baguma, the Central Police Station DPC said his officers arrested eight members of the FDC squad in Kampala Thursday for taking part in the “Free My Vote” protests.
Baguma noted that the suspects were plotting to burn down a petrol station in the city before being intercepted by police.
They were rushed to Central Police Station and detained.
Police and military are still deployed at mini price and around Gazaland building to tame possible protesters.
Police is also manning the homes of Kizza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to prevent them from causing chaos.
In Kabarole district, the FDC chairperson Nyakato Rusoke was arrested at her home over “Free My Vote” defiance demo in Fort Portal.
In Gulu, police sealed off FDC officers forcing the party publicity secretary Kelly Ķomakech to go into hiding.
