Police is holding seven Forum for Democratic Change party supporters for allegedly trying to stage an illegal demonstration.
The group was arrested outside Naggalama police station in Mukono district on Tuesday evening.
This followed the arrest and detention of FDC former presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye.
Besigye was cornered by police at Mulago hospital on his way to FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi for prayers.
He was first detained at Kira Road police station before being whisked to Mukono.
Angry supporters organised themselves and stormed Naggalama Police Station demanding for his release.
The group armed with sticks and stones then engaged police in running battles.
Siraj Bakaleke, the Kampala North Regional Police Commander, told Uganda Radio Network, that the FDC youth were then rounded up for staging an illegal demonstration.
According to Bakaleke, the youth are part of the group, which had earlier in the day blocked the Kampala-Mukono road to protest Besigye’s arrest.
