The head teacher of Kitenga Secondary School has been arrested after 43 of his students were hospitalised over suspected food poisoning.
Police said Geoffrey Luswata, will be charged with criminal negligence if investigations prove that the students were poisoned.
The victims are said to have started experiencing abdominal pains, severe headache and vomiting after eating food suspected to have been laced with poison on Sunday evening.
The district police commander Alex Wabwire said blood samples and stools obtained from the victims had been sent to Kampala for tests.
“This is a serious matter and if it is discovered that the students were poisoned, he (Luswata) will definitely be changed with criminal negligence,” he said
He said cooks will also be summoned to provide more information that will help investigations and lead to the arrest of the culprits.
