Three people died in a motor accident in Mbale on Monday during the visit of ex-prime minister Amama Mbabazi, URN has learnt.
They are John Magomu, a boda boda rider, and his passengers Esther Nambafu and Isma Baligeya.
Beatrice Apolot, the in Charge of Traffic Mbale says the trio rammed into a taxi along Kumi road near Nabuyonga Bridge that was coming from Soroti and were killed on spot.
She says the deceased were part of rowdy Boda boda riders who were part of the procession of Mbabazi in Mbale Town.
According to Apolot, at least nine people have been killed and over thirty others injured in road related accidents since the campaign fever started in July this year.
Apolot notes that her department does not have sufficient manpower to control not only during this campaign period but also on normal business because of the high population in Mbale.
The procession was also intercepted by police several times but supporters overpowered the force and carried on across the town despite the blocking of streets.
