The traffic police has started investigating an accident that happened at Kaganda in Lwengo district today morning.
This accident involved a Gateway bus and a Toyota Corsa that were both coming from Masaka.
According to ACP Polly Namaye, the Deputy Press and Public Relations of the Uganda Police Force, the Gateway bus was moving in the middle lane when the driver of the Toyota indicated to the left but being slightly after the steep hill and at a high speed, the bus failed to brake causing the accident.
She added that three people sustained minor injuries during the accident.
They were rushed to Nkoni Health Centre IV where they were later discharged after treatment.
“The bus driver has been arrested and charged with reckless driving,” affirmed Ms Namaye.
He has been identified as Nahabwe Edson, 40 years old and a resident of Makindye in Kampala.
The Gateway bus Reg. number UAU 951B and Toyota Corsa UAE 788E have apparently been impounded and taken to Kinoni Police station for inspection as investigation continue.
This accident adds to the numerous accidents that happen along Masaka- Mbarara highway on almost a daily basis lately which has greatly contributed to massive destruction of lives including that of two traffic officers while on duty.
