Kampala city Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago has said that the projections of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to transform Ugandan’s to the Middle income status by 2020 is a dream.
Speaking recently on KFM hot seat, Lukwago said government lacks criteria on which issues to prioritize.
Focusing on the recently conducted Rolex festival at National Theater, Lukwago added that it’s to show how the government is tired and out of constrictive ideas.
“You cannot lie Ugandans that you will get people out of poverty when your greatest innovation is ‘Kikomando’, 2020 middle income status is a dream,” said Lukwago.
He concluded by saying that Uganda shall only develop when government realizes that they the need to involve the locals in decision making not sitting in air conditions hotels and end up coming with paper work that is not applicable.
“Museveni has come up with very many programmes but where do they end, look at Bona bagagawala, Naads, Vision 2040, Kisanja hakuna muchezo and now its 2020 middle income status, how many Uganda have benefited and why are people still in poverty?” Lukwago asked.
