Police arrested at least 198 “hooligans” for various crimes committed during the annual Kampala City Festival.
Police spokesman, Fred Enanga, told press those arrested included pickpockets and insulting revelers.
Some stole mobile phones and other related gadgets, according to Enanga.
They were detained at Central Police Station in Kampala.
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) spokesperson, Peter Kauju, says their security team nabbed about 120 suspects.
The rest were juveniles and students who have since been released.
This year’s festival was running under the theme ‘Color and Climate Change’.
The woman of the day was Jennifer Musisi, the KCCA executive director who is behind the annual event.
