President Yoweri Museveni has said that peace is a major factor in facilitating development and that with the return of peace to Karamoja, the region is now on a steady path to economic growth.
“There is now peace in Karamoja and the whole of Uganda. There is peace because the NRM Government withdrew 40,000 guns from the people of Karamoja. Compare this to Obote’s Government which had 8,000 guns in the 1960s and Amin’s Government which had 20, 000 guns. With the Karimojong having a lot of guns at their disposal, there was a big security challenge,” he said.

The working tour aims at promoting the Operation Wealth Creation campaign to ensure that each household has food security and income generation projects to fight poverty.
