14 arrested as Lamwaka wins Omoro MP seat

The ruling party’s Christine Lamwaka defeated her nine rivals with a large margin of 10,958 votes to win the Omoro Woman MP race.

She was followed by opposition FDC’s Alanyo Prossy Owiny who scored 3,948 votes.

Lanyero Grace Pamella (DP) got 1345 votes, Akello Alice Latigo (Independent) tallied 1099 votes, Lalam Betty Kilama (independent) got 958 votes, Okot Santa (independent) tallied 601 votes, Nyapolo Rose (independent) got 455 votes, Aneno Alice Oroma (Independents) got 218 votes while Atimango Christine (independent) got 142 votes.

Meanwhile, Okello Douglas Peter Okao Gulu former Gulu vice chairman and Gulu former NRM chairman was also announced Omoro district chairperson LCV elect in a tight race of 65 differences in votes with FDC, Simon Toolit Akecha where he gathered 5,526 as Toolit tallied 5461 votes.

Odong Stephen Latek (NRM) became third in the district chairperson race after tallying 4758 votes.

Oryem Godfrey (Independent) got 3970 votes and Mugabe Robert (PPP) got 196 votes.

Earlier, 14 people from Gulu were arrested at Rom and Kal A polling stations in Pageya Parish in Koro Sub County for electoral fraud.

The accused were found with falsified transfer forms raising suspicion of likely vote rigging.
