Twelve people have been confirmed dead and at least 10 houses set ablaze in post-election clashes in Bundibugyo district.

It all started when NRM’s flag bearer for the position of LCV Chairman Mr Ronald Mutegeki was announced winner ahead of independent candidate Jolly Tibamanya by the district registrar.

However, on reaching the Electoral Commission’s regional office in Fortportal, Tibamanya was pronounced winner and Mutegeki loser in what the presiding officer said had been a mix up in the declaration forms.

The regional office also reversed an earlier declaration by Bundibugyo District Registrar Daniel Nayebare which gave Jolly Tibamanya a win with 33,012 votes against Mutegeki’s 32,374 votes.

What happened there after were sticks, stones and houses burnt.
