Masindi Police are holding 13 suspects in connection to violent clashes involving members of two families over land.
The clash occurred in Kyababyara village, Kyatiri Sub County on Tuesday evening.
The conflict pitted the family of Charles Onenchan against that of John Onega, both residents of Kyababyara village.
Lydia Tumushabe, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says Onenchan and Onega are involved in a land feud.
Tumushabe says the two parties were in court on Monday but their case was adjourned to April 27th because Onenchan’s lawyer was not in court.
She says that, despite the fact that that two left court peacefully, Onenchan mobilized member of his family on Tuesday to attack Onega’s family.
According to Tumushabe, the attack claimed Onega’s son Samuel Oromachan and left five others injured including Onega himself.
The five are admitted at Masindi hospital.
Their identities were not readily available by the time of filing this story.
Tumushabe says Onenchan is on the run adding that, they have picked 13 members of his family in connection to the attack.
The police spokesperson declined to give identities of the suspects, but revealed that they are in detention at Masindi police station.
According to Tumushabe, nothing else was destroyed in the process since Police intervened in time.
