Police deployed heavily on Friday at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital to prevent Go Forward Presidential candidate, Amama Mbabazi, from visiting the health facility.
The blockage comes at a time three nurses were suspended in Abim district for showing FDC candidate, Kizza Besigye, around the rotten hospital.
For the fear of similar ugly revelations, police today morning occupied and sealed off Kabale hospital on hearing that Amama was scheduled to visit the institution.
The hospital gates have been closed as police insists Mbabazi has no permission to visit the hospital.
Only patients are allowed access to the hospital.
When Mbabazi’s convoy arrived at the hospital, they were locked out.
Police forced him to turn back and leave the premises.
Go Forward camp accuses the Kabale Deputy RDC, Dennis Nzeirwe, of allegedly blocking their supporters from venue.
Mbabazi was holding rallies in Kabale town yesterday ahead of his visit to Kisoro district today.
Mbabazi’s sister-in-law, Hope Mwesigye, told NTV that state agents are being deployed to interfere with his presidential campaign.
She said they have been instrumental in intimidating his supporters in Kabale town for five days ahead of the rallies.
“They have demobilized us to show that we are weak but we shall defeat them,” Mwesigye said.
Speaking at the rally, Mbabazi accused Deputy RDC Nzeirwe of blocking his supporters.
“Who is the deputy RDC? He has blocking my supporters and arresting others.”
He added: “Those who don’t know my temper will see me.”
Mbabazi then promised poverty eradication, job creation and scrapping of VAT to boost economic growth.
On the same day, Mbabazi asked commented on Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto’s decision to campaign for President Yoweri Museveni.
Speaking to The Observer, Mbabazi told the International Criminal Court suspect to stop meddling in Uganda’s internal affairs.
Mbabazi accused Ruto of acting in violation of Uganda’s sovereignty.
“It goes against all reason because, why would a foreign leader come to interfere in the internal affairs of our country?” he is quoted wondering.
Meanwhile, Amama was also blessed by Father Geitano Batanyenda.
